Spirits, ghosts, djinns, demons, monsters, anything other-worldly for that matter trigger my tremors, and one horror movie could seize days of my night’s sleep, and here I am, writing about how to communicate with Spirits.
I have never quite understood that entire obsession with these words. Still, my grandfather was one fascinating person who often indulged in these other-worldly affairs and heavily invested in all occult things. Hearing him narrate his experiences ran a chill down my spine, but in his college days, when the fascination had just set in, he and his friends had successfully called a spirit.
As the spirit announced its arrival with a hurricane seeping through the window and things tossing about in the dilapidated ill-famed house, the gang of amateur psychics was petrified and started calling aloud the Gods which apparently drove the spirit away after minutes of tossing and smashing things!
Over the world, this whole curiosity with the bygones is a huge phenomenon, and while coins or boards may recur in the popular imagination, there are a great number of ways to contact spirits! Because my grandfather left me, here’s a blog post after a fortnight, dedicated to him. Here is a compilation of some of the ways to contact spirits. So, if your paranormal mojo is setting in, read on!
Ouija Board

This board, consisting of the 26 Alphabets along with the numerals, has been popular as a child’s game, but who said it could not be employed as a medium? A widespread tool, also has inscribed on it words like, yes, no and goodbye and can be effectively used to communicate with spirits. On the plastic heart, the participants tap their fingers lightly on it, which in turn is guided by the spirits to produce an effective answer.
Again, a successful communication calls for clarity, and thus being in a relaxed, meditative stance is very important. Any restlessness in your mind could disturb the whole process and also make the task of closing the “communication portal” very difficult!
Lighting a Candle

This one is easy and requires less effort. All you need to do is circumscribe yourself in a room, lit off, and illuminate only a white candle. Thereafter make two chits on which are to be written, “Yes” and “No”. Sprinkle some salt over the melting wax.
This apparently binds the spirit and after that, start meditating and communicating with the spirit. The spirit’s presence can be understood as and when the candle or the flame will show some movement. The spirit will answer in yes or no and be interpreted according to which chit the candle inclines towards.
However, make sure the candle is placed as close to you as possible. But, that also means the spirit is going to be only some inches far…Beware!
Writing on a Paper

This is probably the simplest and seemingly the most effective. All you have to do is say your prayers and summon the spirit. It is as simple as travelling into your depths with full concentration and saying it clear and loud in your head to the spirits that you want to communicate with.
The key to all of the steps is a focused meditation and a relaxed mind. As the spirit will announce its arrival, you can start posing your questions, and the entity will move the pen on your paper, and you will have gotten the answers.
Crystal Ball

This one requires a medium as it involves a little magic. The medium could summon the spirit and trap it inside the crystal ball, mostly through a diagram from which the spirit cannot escape. The spirit will communicate the answers to the medium that will interpret the same and unfold it before you, nice and neat.
The Pentagram

The Pentagram is a diagram consisting of a star circumscribed within a circle. It is an esoteric sign and denotes the presence of spirits over natural elements. A pentagram should be drawn on the floor one towards the one who is summoning, and another, towards the one being summoned. Recite your prayers, and slowly you will feel their presence around you.
In Judeo-Christian traditions, the Pentagram is further considered to be an auspicious sign. Yet such rituals are safer under professional guides because while calling on the spirits is fine, closing down the portal, i.e., sending them back, can pose a real difficulty.
Transfiguration

This one is a seriously dangerous step with an invisible “enter at your own risk” sign. It requires a psychic medium who will communicate with the spirits in a state of trance. In this state, the person might appear sleeping. Having ventured into the spirit worlds, the psychic will talk to the spirit, and if successful, the spirit will appear in the body of the medium!
Apparently, ectoplasm is secreted from the medium’s body, which will then be manipulated by the spirit to embody itself. It is a perilous process and is hugely draining on the spirit since it has to exert a large amount of energy to appear in a tangible form.

These are only some steps, and more and more methods are being evolved. Nowadays, ghost hunting has risen as a phenomenon, and more and more people are venturing into it for a dare devilish kick. Try them only if you are sincere enough in your quest; it calls for respect towards the dead and deceased.
